Operation Sealion AAR: Fighting Withdrawl

Hello All

Another Operation Sealion game, this time against Adam's Canadian Armoured list. We were fighting as part of the encirclement of London in Essex. I was using my an experimental Hungarian Armoured list I have been playing around in my head with. Just before we start I forgot my camera so Adam was taking the pictures, but he didn't get time to post the AAR before he went on holiday. So I apologise if the pictures aren't great and he only took 4 pictures... any way here we go

I deployed on the top of the big hill over loving the bridge and ford with my Panthers in Ambush. Adam deployed 2 Sherman Platoons to cross the bridge and a Sherman Platoon and the M10's facing the ford.

Turn 1

Adam moved up but couldn't shot much as all my armour as GTG and in cover. He tried to ground attack my Tigers but my Nimrods shot all 3 down.

My Turn I shot at a his tanks on the road knocking 2 of them out and my Hs129 knocked out a M10 and the Sherman OP. I kept my Panthers in ambush.

Turn 2

Adam moved his Sherman up to the ford and engaged my artillery, but bar pinning them caused no damage. His Artillery tried to smoke my Tigers but failed to range in. The Shermans at the bridge had a few shots at my Tigers but didn't cause any damage. the Typhoons were shot down again.

My Panthers cam out of ambush and with the Tigers shot up a few more Shermans braking the Sherman platoon at the ford which included the 2IC, saving the Artillery.

Sorry no Photo of this turn.

Turn 3

Adam tried to rush my Panthers and Tigers but all his shots either missed or were saved. The Artillery failed to do any damage and his plane didn't turn up again.

This turn ended up being brutal! My Panthers and combined with Tarczay to finish off the two Sherman platoons at the Bridge, killing the CIC. My Hs 129's and the other Tigers finished off the M10's. This put Adam below half strength with no command time to take the company test the Canadians broke.

6-1 Axis Victory.

Final Thoughts

Well not the most interesting of games. Heavy armour defending seems to hold a big advantage. Also Adam normally has a lot of success with with his typhoons against heavy armour but my Nimrods really stopped them from having any effect.
